RE: [FW1] PIX vs. CheckPoint

Yes, mailguard is enabled by default. To turn it off you need to do a "no
fixup protocol smtp" from configuration mode.

For PIX also the mailguard feature (dunno if it is turned on by default) It
sniffs the smtp traffic and blocks ESMTP support, even if you have a rule
set (or PIX equiv) to allow the ports.

as per post to exchange mail list

Oops, turn mailguard off. It doesn't allow ESMTP.

It's a PIX firewall and is not running smtp of any sort. What kind of
protocol is ESMTP? I figured it's a standard IP based protocol, so thats
what I allow through.

There is no mention of the PIX problems??

Try to do routing on a PIX, It won't do it.

Need some strange network or routing configuration, there is no way on a
PIX. Add a router for EACH segment with a PIX.

Manage 2, 10 or 20 PIX firewalls? A nightmare with a PIX. A cakewalk with
FW-1.
