This is almost certainly correct.  You probably want to block the ident at
your firewall, so that you don't have to pass the remote ICMP.

Incoming SMTP connections to our mail server
seem to be immediately followed by an incoming 
ICMP Type 3 Code 3 packet (port unreachable).

I assume this is a "reject" of my mailserver's Ident-request.

Can anyone confirm this?
