[FW1] TCP timeout - TELNET

I was sent this information about extending the
timeout period on a telnet session. They are unwilling
to verify if this fix will work on a 3.0b firewall, so
I need your guys help. Will this work on a 3.0b
firewall? If not, what do I need to do to extend it?

In reference to the resolution:
 
Do the following: 
1. At the management station, edit $FWDIR/lib/init.def
and add the following line before the line
ADD_TCP_TIMEOUT(0,0):
ADD_TCP_TIMEOUT (port, timeout) 
where port has the value of the port number, and
timeout (in seconds) can be as long as 24 hours.

2. Perform an fwstop followed by fwstart

 
The resolution is for problem environment which
includes (does not include 3.0b) :
FireWall-1 4.0  
Telnet session timeout  
init.def
