I actually did that earlier. I played with my redhat which has cpfw-1 NG. The major was 254. I tried playing with mknod and came up with this command. mknod /dev/fw0 c 254 0 chmod og=-r /dev/fw0 # why, because the default perm was 644 it's own by root and group root in redhat. Anyways, this was useless since everytime the linux boots, it runs fw1boot which deletes that devices. The file that actually does it is fw.mkdev found in $FWDIR/modules. I actually went upto this part coz I was so eager to make CPFW-1 NG work in Suse. Luckily, I got it working. Since Suse doesn't have any /boot/System.map but does have the complete filename with date in System.map, it bypasses if (-f /boot/System.map) then ........ Since I recompiled my kernel to 2.2.20, I just copied /usr/src/linux/System.map to /boot. Then it was this line that made all the charm. It created the /dev/fw0. Tonight, I'll try installing CPFW-1 NG on a Debian. :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tonton Rabena" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, February 04, 2002 6:59 PM Subject: Re: [FW-1] fw0 device > mknod /dev/fw0 c 129 0 > chmod 644 /dev/fw0 > chown root /dev/fw0 > chgrp sys /dev/fw0 > > > > how would I re-create the /dev/fw0 using mknod command? > > > > Thanks. > > > > Neil > > > > ================================================= > > To set vacation, Out Of Office, or away messages, > > send an email to [email protected] > > in the BODY of the email add: > > set fw-1-mailinglist nomail > > ================================================= > > To unsubscribe from this mailing list, > > please see the instructions at > > http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html > > ================================================= > > If you have any questions on how to change your > > subscription options, email > > [email protected] > > ================================================= > > -- > Regards, > > Tonton Rabena > > Little Green Apples > http://www.lga.net.sg > [email protected] > > ================================================= > To set vacation, Out Of Office, or away messages, > send an email to [email protected] > in the BODY of the email add: > set fw-1-mailinglist nomail > ================================================= > To unsubscribe from this mailing list, > please see the instructions at > http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html > ================================================= > If you have any questions on how to change your > subscription options, email > [email protected] > ================================================= ================================================= To set vacation, Out Of Office, or away messages, send an email to [email protected] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [email protected] =================================================
