Hi all, we run a special ActiveX based application on port 80. Multiple Internet clients connect to a server that is streaming data using a completely inhouse developed protocol that does not resemble http in any way. We notice that many clients connections are being dropped. We can see this because we are logging their logins and logouts. Some clients login and then get logged out exactly three hours later. Some two hours later. Some one hour later. They log in again and then the whole time out period restarts. Since this is occurring at different time intervals for different clients I have excluded our firewalls as the problem. We know that some customers use, MS Proxy, some use SQUID, some use Checkpoint, others use PIX. I wonder whether our protocol running on port 80 is bothering all of these firewalls and if so, does anyone have any suggestions as to why? If they were all running port 80 inspection then I guess it might be the inspection code but ALL of these firewalls are affected. It just doesn't seem plausible.
