in my experience, the versions make a difference and not the hardware platform. if possible, get them to the same version and service pack prior to the stuff below and you are less likely to have any problems. i have had success without having them at the same version, but..... do the following (i am assuming you are using 4.1 spwhatever as i have not tried this on ng): 1) copy the objects.C file from the NT platform to another directory. 2) copy the objects.C file from the Solaris platform to the NT machine in the same directory as the previous 3) fw confmerge filename1 filename2 > fileout where filename1 is the existing objects.C file filename2 is the objects.C that you want to bring into the existing one fileout is the new merged version. NOTE: If you are not in the $FWDIR/bin directory, you will have to reference the proper path to the "fw" command) 4) stop the firewall service 5) copy fileout over the existing objects.C file in the $FWDIR/conf directory 6) start the firewall service Verify successful import. This will include trying to download a policy. if you can get through the download with no errors you should be fine. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bourque Daniel" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 29, 2002 10:44 PM Subject: [FW-1] Moving fw > I am in the process of setting an internal FW for a test lab. > > Is it possible to import the objects definition from a Sun Solaris > plate-form to an NT plate-form?
