In the situation where you have a single local router, going to a single
remote router, with multiple links, static routes are far easier to setup
and maintain than BGP.

In the situation where you have two lines going to different remote
routers, you can still use static routing for outbound traffic. Since you
probably want to advertise your network though, you can specify
"maximum-paths 2" in your BGP configuration so that your local router
accepts 2 (default) routes instead of choosing the best one.
