One major reason would be a complete lack of flexible IPSec support on the MS side... Win2K will provide IPSec, but its administrability, debugging, and ability to deal with 3rd party products is pretty shabby when held up against something like Checkpoint VPN-1 or the Cisco PIX. ISA provides no native IPSec functionality from what I understand, so you get whatever Win2K offers you. To summarize... "apples and oranges." Kind of like comparing a motorcycle to a moped. Not the same. ISA is the moped. Just one opinion. -----Original Message----- From: Vince Grande [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, August 09, 2002 12:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [FW-1] ISA VS PIX Hello, My manager ask me if there were any reasons not to use MS ISA server over Cisco PIX. We would have to deploy this solution to six remote sites. We would also need to deploy VPN access. All of our sites use MS NT 4.0 and soon will have MS 2000. I've used MS Proxy in the past and it lack a lot of functionally. Were predicting higher WAN traffic load using Oracle. So performance is very important.
