We had the same thing, it was related to the WINS resolution on the workstation what node type are you using? I changed the node type to P (peer to peer) and the number of time WINS broadcasts and waits for timeouts which improved things a lot! Our transfer speeds through the tunnel are decent but our NT/2000 workstations are slow browsing and authenticating....
